Kuala Selangor and Fireflies

Sunday, September 12, 2010

As you can see, it is quite a long time no posts in this blog. Well, it's ok because I'm BACKKKK!.

Had nothing to do over the weekend, so we planned something out.

Went to Pasir Penampang, Kuala Selangor for seafood and see fireflies like in Owl City..hehehe..later. We used old road to get there which from Sg. Buloh. Passing kampungs and palm oils. Then, reached Ijok first before Kuala Selangor. The distance is around 50km, actually not quite remember. I assumed. Took around 45 minutes from my The Curve.

Basically, there is around 2-3 famous and I can called overrated seafood restaurants in Pasir Penampang as it was fully packed, excluding those being RESERVED only around 6.++pm.

So we choose River View Seafood Restaurant over Jeti Seafood Restaurant. Next time lar...

The sun still still bright then, shone into the restaurants. We walked around and there is either no more place for us or reserved. So we sit outside the restaurant instead. On the marble table. Special leh...We do not have much patient though.

We ordered 6 dishes as below;

Fried Calamari/Squid. Crispy but no taste-RM10

Sambal Kangkung. My favourite dish for the night-RM6

Assam Siakap. Not bad, sour sour one. Very fast finish because everyone like it-RM28

Chinese bread according to the menu. Thought want to dip the bread with the craby's gravy
but Kam Heong where got gravy. So we eat it blandly instead.-RM3.50

Egg yolk prawn mantis. Disappointing.-RM11

Kam Heong Crab. I just tasted the dry gravy. So so. According to them the meat was lembik. I can see it falling down. Looks not so fresh. 1kg-RM38

Total spend including towel, peanuts, tea, ice, rice and dishes is RM 107.20. Cheap leh....My next station in future will either be Jeti Seafood Restaurant or Kuala Sungai Seafood Restaurant which is more hidden. Only to be found after back from dinner. AND do not forget to buy Pasir Penampang specialties; keropok, anchovies, noodles and so on. Very cheap too.

Next stop, Firefly Park which is just 6km from the place we had our dinner. The road was quite dark with just few far-separated houses nearby. There was a lot of people on reached. The price is quite expensive for 15 minutes boat ride to see fireflies. RM15 for adults and children not sure, RM7 or RM8.

The entrance to the jetty. There is a lot of people in waiting. We waited around 10 minutes before our turn. The river was damn dark and silence. The boat run slowly, I was thinking to fall asleep if i stay any much longer. hahaha.

Did not manage to shoot any fireflies. The lightning was to small for me to capture without flash. Oh ya, do remember not to shoot photo with FLASH. It will kill all the fireflies.

The best time to watch fireflies is from 7-10pm.

Back home near 11pm. Tired but fun.

Till then. Written at 12.00pm on 12 September 2010.
