Penang 2011

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Seems like one of a must activity every year during CNY, just slightly different this year. We went to Penang before CNY. XD

Gathering with them is a joy to me, since we likely to meet about 1/2 or 1 year once. Kinda miss them. XD

As usual we departed early in the morning, reached before lunch time at Nibong Tebal to meet up with friends before continue our journey to Penang Island. Had a prawn mee hoon at Nibong Tebal at 11am, uuhmm..no offence, I still think Taman Paramount prawn mee hoon is still the BEST. WAHAHA!

On reaching Penang, we gathered with Karen and Huey Beng and had our umm...lunch?? just few hours after prawn mee hoon. We had..

LOK LOK, RM64, thanks Huey Beng for the treat..XD, at Dato Keramat

In Penang, it is all about food, we had no other activities, so karen suggested we go Avenue, a new built shopping complex just beside Prangi Mall (pardon for the naming). Initially we plan to watch a movie while waiting for dinner time but none interest us, so we ended up having our high tea at one of the Taiwan franchise. Poor memory lately. Doesn't remember the shop name XD (update: there is the shop name from below picture; called Chatime). The small shop just beside the GSC. We ordered....

Matcha Tea Latte - RM4.90

Strawberry Milkshake - Rm5.90

Matcha Red Bean SM - RM5.90

Strawberry Au Lait - RM5.90

The drinks here are not bad at all. We can determine the ice and sugar level as desired. Good for those who loves deserts with low sugar. By the time we finished our drinks, we kinda full yet planning for dinner. This year we did not go for local food instead we went for western food. Cottage House to be named. Was told kinda famous and crowded. By the time we reach, just around 7pm. We are the first to reach..lolz. Zap few pictures while waiting for Hui Pheng.

Once all are here, we ordered our dinner.

The creamy mushroom soup.
Something is wrong with the soup and we changed to

Tomato soup. Kinda bland but sour. Comes together with the set.

Chicken and lamb combo, very big portion - RM29.90 per set*

Forget what type of fish liao...

Cottage chicken - RM28.90 per set*

Dory fish with spaghetti, small portion

Lemon Butter dory fish - RM28.90 per set*

Almond chicken

Cheese cake comes with the set

The food price might be differ, merely based on my memory*

The food was rather normal and does not reach my expectations.

After filled up out tummy, Penangnites suggested us to see their new grand shopping complex and serviced apartment, Straits Quay. Indeed it is grand from the exterior.

The car park lot, side view like condominium

The side walkaway

Chinese New Year lantern decoration

Lobby lantern decoration

Interior decoration

Since the place was open few months ago, not much shops yet. However, there are few high class restaurants available though.

The esplanade. Above would be the service residences facing the sea. Was told each cost RM1.6M..WOW!

Side view and the light house

Was told the lights would be from Gurney

The grand light house. Closed for visitor

Panoramic view of the esplanade. Nice

After experiencing the sea breeze for a while which was rather cooling and enjoyable, we headed back home. My friends to Nibong Tebal and we to Taiping. It was rather an enjoyable one day trip. Once reach home, it was near 1am, and I dozed to bed with tire.

Till then.XD
